About this Fabric
Bagru Print is a GI-tagged textile craft from Bagru village near Jaipur, practised by the Chhipa community for generations. It uses a natural mud-resist technique called dabu — a paste of clay, wheat chaff, and lime is applied to block out areas before dyeing. The fabric is then immersed in natural dyes like indigo, pomegranate rind, or iron-black to create earthy, deep-toned patterns. The result is a rich, organic print with a natural hand feel that cannot be replicated by machine. Each batch has slight colour variation due to natural dyeing — this is characteristic of the craft.
